it's been.....a weird week.....

I had been wondering what happened to Kak Nadz eversince graduation. I never got the chance to see her and I lost all her contacts-email address, phone number, social media pages....

One day, I was going through my things in the studio when I was trying to sort things, I came across the stuff she gave me and I was thinking, I need to find this woman. I did what I usually do, I typed her full name on Google search. I found her picture giving a talk at a conference. Yes, it was her. Definitely her. Unmistakably her. I went on looking for a way to get in touch with her and I found her email address. It was her work email address but it was better than nothing.

I sent her an email without realizing it was a Saturday. On Monday, she replied. I was almost in tears coz I had been looking for her for so goddamn long. She gave me her phone number and we started chatting. It's crazy coz she said for some strange reason, she was just thinking about me over the weekend and when she came into work on Monday, my email was in her inbox.

We need to hug each other properly if we ever meet in person. It's been too long and I had been missing her.

The week goes by and I went to visit Safiyya's best friend's mom who just gave birth. It was such a strange experience coz, I wanted to see the baby and we ended up chatting (Safiyya's bf's mom and her husband and I). We later discovered that they are actually my juniors from the university I attended. SUCH A SMALL WORLD. So,her husband started going through his phone, going through random names with me in case anyone rings a bell. And yes, his former roommate from matriculation was indeed an aquaintance/coursemate/friend of mine. He wasn't exactly in our immediate circle but my course was the minority on campus so yeah, we know each other.

Anywho, the next thing I knew I was talking on the phone with that former coursemate of mine. Weird, coz he did leave comments before my social media account got hacked back in 2014. And with the memories recurring every now and then, the posts with comments will still be there. So yeah, we ended up chatting during the baby visit a lot longer than intended. It was nice to meet people with more than one connections with what I do.

Safiyya's BF's dad happens to also know my sailing coach and some sailing coaches I used to sail with. Small world? VERY.
